In this role you will perform as one of the Applications Systems Analyst: Primary responsibility is for the support of the business applications which include maintenance activities of these applications and support coordination with city users, software vendor and interaction with technical support staff.
Additional responsibilities include - interact with business systems owners in identifying business and technology needs; assess business process improvements for operational efficiency; provide technical and process guidelines in production operations.
Job Responsibilities
• Maintain various applications for departments including application upgrade, patch maintenance and other related maintenance activities.
• Develop and maintain related applications and interfaces in support of city departments’ initiatives.
• Gather business requirements and document specifications for development of application, reports and interfaces.
• Implement and enforce processes for application migration, testing and support maintenance.
• Provide production support for city’s business applications, technical environments and interfacing systems by assisting or interacting with peers and users in troubleshooting issues, change implementation and support maintenance.
• Prioritize and assign target completion dates for fixes and change orders in concurrence with application users and team members.
• Follow existing business processes and operational guidelines when supporting the business application users, vendors and maintenance activities such as escalation of issue/system downtime, change order implementation, perform root cause analysis, apply patch, etc.
• Work with various Account groups such as the Network Team, Hosting Team and Workplace Services Team in delivering quality and timely services/deliverables.
• Lead and coordinate various technical and/or functional support teams in new project initiatives and in resolving issues.
• Follow through on project development/production issues and customer inquiries to ensure resolution and proper root-cause analysis in order to provide quality and timely service delivery.
• Coordinate with city staff, applications and software vendors in terms of business applications support, technical environment incidents and issue resolution.
• Able to support the city’s 24x7 business operations and be available onsite during the city’s business hours.
Required Skills
• College degree preferably in the fields of Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Must have proven applications developer hands-on experience using C#, .NET, Java or any object-oriented programming language.
• Must have experience in applications maintenance/operations, version upgrades and system implementation.
• Must have working experience in providing production support or maintaining business systems including diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving related issues or incidents.
• Must have experience working with Microsoft Windows and Linux environments.
• Must have working experience in maintaining reports using third-party tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or any other industry equivalent tool.
• Must have working experience or exposure in using Microsoft products such as Sharepoint, Visio, Power Apps, etc.
• Must have good problem solving, troubleshooting and issue resolution, organization and planning skills.
• Knowledgeable with any relational databases such as MS SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
• Must have hands-on programming experience using SQL, PL/SQL or any other equivalent versions.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and provide off-hours support for production related business applications issues/incidents and/or technical environment support.
• Must have excellent verbal communications, interpersonal skills and technical writing skills.
• Must have the ability to train business application users and be able to develop technical documentation
• Must have experience acting as the primary contact in dealing with client and vendor requests.
• Must have the ability to lead projects and/or technical related initiatives
• Must have the ability to learn quickly and adapt to multi-platform technical environment.
• Must be willing to go through the Department security clearance process.
